Rach and Nick | Stradbroke Island adventure wedding

How great were these Stradbroke Island adventure wedding couple… They suggested that they might like to get some photos on the Gorge Walk… so off we went to the Gorge to do their bridal party shoot.

These gorgeous girls in their little pastel dresses and heels and the amazing bride in her heels and wedding dress plus the very handsome boys sporting full suits.

And there they were climbing out to the end of the headland and perching themselves on top of a rock, on the edge of a cliff… high heels and all

Gorge bridal party photos

I have to say Stu and I were extremely impressed.

Beautifully, gracefully done and all with a smile, heels on the Gorge walk is impressive

It was fantastic to spend the day with this group and having the pleasure to see Rach and Nick get married. I LOVE a couple who are up for anything. Thanks guys. Adventure couples (and bridal parties) are our very favourite couples to photograph.

Emily and Lee | kombi Stradbroke Island wedding

simmsquinn Straddie Wedding Leave a Comment

Emily started off her marriage with Lee with some huge kudos points by ordering ‘kombi mad’ Lee a surprise split screen kombi to pick him up and drive him to their wedding.

The look on his face as it drove towards him was classic, he was over the moon.

What a way to enter your event in style.

Emily was up for anything and squished into the bubble filled bathtub for a glass of champagne with her manmaid and three bridesmaids.

It was a hot and busy weekend on the island so we avoided the crowds and ‘went bush’ for some uninterrupted photos of the gorgeous wedding party and of course THAT kombi.

These guys were alot of fun to hang around with on their special day and so beautiful… I don’t know how they stayed looking so hot – It was so so HOT.

The detail was beautiful and it felt like walking into a dreamland when walking into the draped, litup, fairytale Hotel Function room decorated by Stradbroke Island Events

Sheryl Gotje was the celebrant, Emma on makeup, the Love Bus got them to the beach on time

Thanks for sharing your day with us Emily and Lee, it was beautiful.

Larissa and Henry | Stradbroke Island local wedding

Is there anything better then a local wedding?

I LOVE a good love story, and this gorgeous couple have a great one.

Larissa (who is a Straddie local) had done what all girls with a sense of adventure do. Gone over seas to live for a while.

She had moved to the UK and in with Ed, Ed was Henry’s brother.

Ed noticed Henry (aka the Hunk from Haslemere) visiting more and more and then after not much time at all… they were together.

After less a year Larissa moved back to Australia and Henry made the decision to pack up his life and follow her to the other side of the world.

And now they are married.

Well worth the trip I would think, Larissa absolutely glowed while getting married to Henry.

And the decorations… did someone say Detail.

You could have knocked me over with a feather when I first walked into the Point Lookout Community Hall to photograph the reception at Larissa and Henry’s wedding, the place looked incredible. The decorations… Whoah. Amazing. I didn’t really know where to start.

Noreen (Larissas mother) says that it takes a village to raise a child and it seemed as though half of the Point was there lending a hand to get everything ready for the big day.

The place just looked beautiful and Larissa, along with her mother, Larissa’s ‘Aunties’ and of course the ever incredible Donna from Stradbroke Island Events managed to see their vision come to life.

Gordon from Straddie Catering had an amazing spread of food

It was a hot and humid day and I have no idea just how Henry and his family (who were over from England and South Africa) managed to get through the day let alone all look fantastic while doing it.

An amazing wedding, we loved it.

Thanks for inviting us.

We also put together a little stop motion video of the day.

A beautiful bride who also designed her own wedding shoes… wowza.

And what an amazing pair of wedding shoes they were…

bride' own design shoes

This was always going to be a really fun wedding.

These guys know how to put on a great party, get married in style and look absolutely fantastic while doing it.

The girls looking gorgeous in blue, with their eyebrows done by the bride and makeup by Emma. Clever Kate also designed her own shoes.

It seemed as though every single person knew each other, so everyone was mingling and chatting, an extremely friendly affair.

Megan and Brodie | Stradbroke Island Amity engagement

simmsquinn Adventure Love Shoot Leave a Comment

This awesome, fun (and a little bit goofy) couple invited us over to Megan’s parents house in Amity to take their pre wedding photos for their Amity engagement

They had heard about us through my sister who does makeup and remedial massage (thanks Em) So as she was pulling away after working her magic, we were pulling in.

We arrived to Megz holding back the dogs and telling us that she wasn’t sure just where to go for the photos… Have a look around.

Not ten meters away was their backyard leading into an incredible bushland and from a massive tree, their childhood rope swing… Are you kidding me – this is perfect!!

Out came the ‘Amity bike’ complete with rod holder, which Brodie just loved and the shoot was ON.

These two were the absolute easiest people to photograph, they loved a smile and a laugh, loved their dogs, loved each other and up for anything… And I mean ANYTHING.

Ant bites, rope burn and handlebar butt will not stop them

And that was not our suggestion to jump off the jetty… Completely their doing… crazy kids!

We had a little trip down to the beach where they are going to have their wedding ceremony and reception and we CANNOT wait to photograph it. It is going to be AMAZING!
