Straddie wedding ceremony locations

Ceremonies for weddings (30+ guest count)

There are numerous incredible Straddie wedding ceremony locations on the island that are perfect for your wedding ceremony, each offering its unique charm and suitable for larger wedding numbers (30 plus guests)

When it comes to breathtaking backdrops, and everything being within five minutes drive from each other, then Point Lookout is the ideal setting for your dream destination wedding.

Amity Point is a much more subtle location and pretty perfect for a smaller, more intimate wedding.

Dunwich is becoming more popular as a location, in particular for convenience for mainland people wanting to get back to Brisbane on the ferry that night.

Point Lookout

Several beaches on the island meet the criteria for a wow-factor ceremony location, and these spaces you can book through Redlands City Council:

Home Beach West (Adder Rock end)

This location offers easy access from the carpark, is within walking distance of Manta Lodge and Scuba Centre, and Adder Rock Camp Ground. It’s a perfect spot for a marquee setupand a larger guest count. It is also a favorite for adventurous couples who don’t mind traversing across a bit of rocky terrain. Plus, it’s protected from southerly winds and welcomes off-lead dogs.

Home Beach Middle (behind Anchorage)

The following two spots are pretty close together (but far enough apart to be a problem if your guests are running to get to your wedding) So make sure you let everyone know exactly where you will be.

Located behind the Anchorage Resort, there is a tree lined aisle through the forest and tea trees leading to the beach. It offers street lined parking in front of the resort and is within walking distance of accommodations like Allure Stradbroke Resort, the Anchorage and The Islander, as well as reception venues like the Point Lookout Community Hall and Oasis on Straddie. This location is also protected from southerly winds and is dog-friendly off-lead.

Home Beach East (entrance across from Allure Resort)

Highly popular, this spot features a beautiful “aisle” through the forest and tea trees leading to the beach. It offers convenient access from a carpark and is within walking distance of accommodations like Allure Stradbroke Resort and The Islander, as well as reception venues like the Point Lookout Community Hall and Oasis on Straddie. This location is also protected from southerly winds and is dog-friendly off-lead.

Pandanas Palms Reserve:

This expansive lawn area, provides stunning ocean views, is located behind the accommodations at Pandanus Palms and is frequented by a local grass loving mob of kangaroos. It’s an excellent choice for your ceremony, especially if you want to stay away from sand – which is good for your less mobile guests and those who want to wear heels on their big day, while still enjoying a magnificent view.

South Gorge:

Located on the eastern side of the island and nestled in between some pretty incredible rock formations, and right next to the ocean. The afternoon light streams down the aisle which can create amazing photos, there is a bit is a sandy walk and steps down to the location, it does have a tendency to get very busy if the weather is just right but it can be an incredible spot.

A small Anglican church that seats around thirty people, if you wanted a more formal ceremony indoors then check this spot out – here is the website

Dunwich

For couples seeking to hold both the ceremony and reception in the same venue, with the added convenience of allowing guests to return to the mainland via ferry, the Little Ships Club in Dunwich is an excellent choice.
